I was using the lever to open the trunk and it broke off in my hand. My question is, how do I remove/service this and is there any way to replace the lever with a jury-rigged solution? Thanks in advance for any help.

yeah but shutting off the engine to open the trunk is a BIG pain
 also I'm lazy and the car is stock so nothing to steal anyway. Does any one else have info or advice?
