Guys, I have 170K miles on my motor...it still runs like a champ though with no probs...I want to take off the head and port/polish it and add a nice header too. Then, tune. Is that going to be ok? or am I looking at hurting my bottom end in some unforseen way? Thanks!

pain in the ass if your just going to do a port and polish. the 5s head isn't the most easiest heads to take off like a lil 1.5 civic head. it'll be about a 6 hour job or so for an experienced mechanic and you definitely don't want to be without a repair manual such as a haynes.

well celica owner to celica owner, i would have to advise against it. it is your car and should do what you want with it, and it prolly would last a little while longer with it, you would see a little power, but for the money its prolly not worth it. unless your an experiance mechanic and machinist and plan to do it all your self, i wouldn't. save your money and go with the 3s head or 3s swap, but still keep it basic.
