Is it just something wrong wit my car or is all st's have bad traction... even with 110hp my car spins and jumps from a take off pretty badly. My clutch is stock and is still very good, i got stock tires/rims but even so it just doesnt seem to have good traction so once its turboed i dun even wana think about all the spinning it will have from take off.

ok this insanity has to stop.
A clutch is made to put the power/torque to the wheels. If a clutch is bad/worn/crappy then it won't do that. It would slip and the wheels would NOT be able to spin easily or spin at all. An OEM clutch is made to be easy and lightly slip for easy starting from a stop with our low hp/torque cars. A stage 2/3/4 or whatever stage is made NOT TO slip or slip signifigently less. A Stage 2 disk for example is rated for higher torque which can hold to the pressure plate better and therefore SPIN the wheels when you press the gas pedal. Spinning your wheels is because your clutch grips like a mo fo. why do people have to get a better clutch when they turbo ? because of the higher torque they now have and an OEM clutch can't handle the torque - meaning it slips and the disk burns out and the tires don't spin at all. If you can spin the wheels easily you have either : a. bad tires (not necessarily old) b. a heavy right foot c. a lot of torque d. all of the above my advise, don't press the gas pedal so hard. -------------------- |

Well said...so if you plan to turbo, you pretty much need to upgrade the clutch. Dustin knows what he is talking about. |
