Is it true that you really cant compare tread wear ratings from one brand of tire to the next? My current tire has a 400 tread and lasted me exactly 2yrs of boosted fun, with pretty good traction. For my next set im thinking of picking up a set of Nitto NeoGens. Problem is that they are only rated at 280 tread, and Im worried i wont be able to get at least 2yrs out of them. They seem to be getting rave reviews, despite the low wear rating.

well, for me, 2yrs = 20,000 miles.
I asked the guy at discount tire direct about this while ordering my new set today. He said the the wear ratings are only useful if you are trying to compare different tires from the same company, but totally useless when comparing 1 brand to another. He seems to think that the Nitto's will outlast the kumho ASX by a least 10k, even though the kumhos have a 400 tread rating and the nittos are 280. I guess I'll find out. The Nittos seems to be getting rave reviews from almost everyone. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
