When the car is turned on, the hardline that feeds the air into the firewall freezes within 40 seconds. Frost builds on the outside and is impossible to hold for more than 4 seconds. Anyone experience this before? im not too sure what might be causing this but i hear a little squeeking in coming from the a/c pump and a bit of a burnt smell. any suggestions? thanks

Ok... so is this happening when the A/C is off? The hard line freezing is sorta normal and could seem worse than it is because it's not hot outside. Does the heater work? The only thing that can cause the a/c line to freeze is if refrigerant is moving through the line. This would require the a/c pump to be on. I think the pump is stuck on (broken clutch or electrical short on the pump)... so it's always moving refrigerant.
