I have a 95 3sgte that is going in my 96 celica st. I decided to go with a celica gt tranny and I got a ACT stage two racing cultch kit. My car is being worked on right now but the guys working on it weren't sure if it was ok to run that clutch with a stock 3s pressure plate. They said I may need an act pressure plate, the only problem with that is that they don't make one for this model. So, is it ok to run an act 4 puck clutch with a stock 3s pressure plate? Also they said to make this run right I would have to get an FMIC that runs pipes in and out on the drivers side or it won't work right. I got a FMIC that runs in on one side and out on the other. Is it better to run a same side FMIC or is it ok to run a regular FMIC with in and out on opposite sides?

i dont know anything about using a stock pressure plate with an aftermarket clutch disc. id assume it would be a bad idea. as for an intercooler thats up to you, both style will work fine. a majority of swapped cars use the traditional style intercooler with inlets on opposite ends. its up to you and how you want to run the piping though. oh and where in CT are you?

QUOTE(x_itchy_b_x @ Feb 29, 2008 - 1:29 PM) i dont know anything about using a stock pressure plate with an aftermarket clutch disc. id assume it would be a bad idea. as for an intercooler thats up to you, both style will work fine. a majority of swapped cars use the traditional style intercooler with inlets on opposite ends. its up to you and how you want to run the piping though. oh and where in CT are you? I live in Avon,CT. My car is up at East Coast Swappers in Springfield,Ma. The reason I wasn't sure about the intercooler is because they said that if I used a traditional one that they would have to run the piping under the frame rail on the passenger side and they weren't sure if it would scrape or not but it seems that everyone else uses the regular FMIC. Also, do you know of any aftermarket pressure plates that I could get that would work with my setup. thanks. |
