If I were to import a gt4 would it be right hand drive? Are all gt4's right hand drive. I found a website on the forums here tha specializes in importing jdm cars to the US. However I don't want to drive a right hand drive vehicle. I don't even think it's legal unless it's proven to meet safety standards which would involve crashing the car. So if I were to import one is it possible to import one that isn't right hand drive? Also has anyone ever done this? How much did it run you? What problems did you run into? Thanks.

all this depends on if your in canada or the US. IF your in Canada, you can legaly import one from any where in the world startin in Sept 2009 or so. There are LHD GT4s that are in europe, but they are hard to come by compaired to buyin one from Japan or the UK. As for the US, i think that if you buy one with the interior stripped down, and ship the body, interior and motor seperately, you could put it back together as a kit car like the other people have said. But as for Canada, only way to do it is wait another almost 2 years b4 u can bring one in.

Your best bet though for the $ is just keep FWD, buy a half clip from a used JDM engine place with the body parts, swap the 3S in and do the front end conversion. There are a few true GT4s in the states, there was one that was just sold for $20K for a 95 form one of our Ohio members. But there are a few other conversions out there that are full GT4 conversions *4wd and all* that have gone for any where between 11K-22K.

But as for the true thing gettin imported, your probably gonna be spending between $11-20K for a GT4 imported from Japan. My friend runs an importing company out of Toronto and he brings R32 Skylines, S13s, MR2s, 300ZX's etc in from japan, and he usually gets between 6-9K for a 5th Gen All-Trac, and 8-12K for a 5th Gen All-Trac RC. He said the average price, just for the car, not including the importing fee's is around 8-13K
