ok, well, I've had a couple different members on here ask me for SAFC/AFC Neo settings for when they get their 5sfte project finished, but want to take the car for a test drive, or want to be able drive it to a dyno for tuning. So, I've decided to post some. here's my disclaimer first: These are NOT intended to be final settings for your 5sfte. in fact, these aren't my exact settings. I actually am posting slightly milder settings than what I use because every engine is different, and what settings make my engine run good could be dangerous for yours, which is why no one has ever posted settings before. but, most 5sfte's run very similar settings from what I've seen, so these would be a good place to start and will give you something to build off of.

For the record, these are meant for cars using a CT-26 turbo, 460cc injectors, an APEXI SAFCII or AFC Neo and a 2bar map sensor. if you're using a different turbo, different injectors, different piggyback, or a different sensor, then these settings will most likely not even be close for you and you could damage your engine!

Throttle point: Low - 20% High - 25%

Low Throttle Map:
RPM...Correction %
800....-39%
1400..-28%
2000..-28%
2400..-26%
3000..-30%
3400..-16%
4000..-12%
4400-6400..0%

(I haven't tuned above 4000 RPM yet, but I don't really ever go past 4000 RPM at low throttle...)

High Throttle Map:
RPM...Correction %
800...-11%
1400..-11%
2000..-11%
2400..-11%
3000..-11%
3400..-13%
4000..-13%
4400..-12%
5000..-5%
5400..-5%
6000..-5%
6400..-5%

again, I haven't really tuned past 5000 RPM, so this map makes you go pretty rich right around there, but that'll be safer since detonation tends to happen around those RPMs and lean mixtures burn hotter and thus lead to more detonation. One more thing to keep in mind with all these settings is that they are all NEGATIVE, meaning subtracting fuel. you shouldn't ever need to add fuel!

Once again, I have to state that these are only to help you get your running after your turbo project is done and you need to drive it from your house to the dyno shop to get tuned. Unless you have a wideband o2 gauge, I'd strongly recommend keeping your foot out of the throttle until it's properly tuned, as tempting as it'll be with the newfound power. if you do have a wideband, keep a close eye on it if you do step on it and let off if you see anything leaner than 11.5 during WOT.

so yeah, I'd love to see some settings from other 5sfte people smile.gif

these aren't my exact settings, these are milder than my settings beacuse I know that every engine requires it's own tune. These were meant to give something to build off of. We all know running too lean is very dangerous for the engine, but running too rich is also not good for it. it's better to be rich than lean, to an extent. when I first started up my car after getting my project together I was looking at my wideband and I thought it was malfunctioning because all it read was 10.0:1 which is the absolute richest that it reads. I probably was closer to 9.0:1, 8.0:0, maybe even richer! when you dump too much fuel into an engine, you risk what is called cylinder washdown where the gas washes all the oil off the cylinder walls and it could seize your engine.

how I came up with these settings? I actually copied somebody elses high throttle map and it was pretty darn close to being dead-on. I only made changes of 1 or 2 % at 2 or 3 different points. I made up the low throttle by myself but it took a while. If someone would've posted something like this for me when I was tuning, it would've been a lot easier and taken less time.

one more note for anyone planning on tuning their own engine, don't tune anything until the engine is fully warmed up. it'll run richer at start-up because that's what it was designed to do. and just because the water temp gauge is at halfway doesn't mean it's fully warmed up. if you have an oil temp or oil pressure gauge, you would be able to tell when it's fully warmed up by looking at those.

Thing is this turbo should kick in very low rpms, but I guess I'll have to try and stay under 2000rpm. thanks

you can cruise at higher rpms without the turbo spooling as long as you stay out of the throttle and just lightly press the gas.
