anyone know the mounting depth and how much clearence there is between the speaker grill/ door panel on a 94 ST with power windows and locks?

i ran across the tutorial on putting 8 inch speakers in the doors and need to know how much room i have so i can start shopping for some 8s.

also if anyone who has put 8s in thier doors could tell me a what speakers they used, what frequencies they are playing, if they're running them active or passive, and what the rest of thier system consist of, i'd greatly appreciate it.

i'll be using a DLS Iridium mid range and tweeter with whatever 8 i get (all run actively).

Not all STs have the cutout that will fit an 8". Mine (also a 94 ST) has a cutout that will still only fit the 6.5", but the good news is that there's no bracket to modify, there's a nifty plastic bracket in there that you separate the stock speaker from and use to mount your new speaker.

You might want to either remove your door panel to see what you've got behind there before you go shopping, or be prepared to possibly cut up some metal when you go to install some 8s.
