I have noticed lately that people are not using the "Report this post" button as it was intended.
If you see a post you feel is disrespectful, or not on topic, or ANY reason you feel it violates forum rules, DO NOT POST. Instead, please use the "Report this post" button located below the members name, reputation and warning level. By not using the report this post button, and responding to a hateful post, or a spammer, ect, it adds to the fire, encouraging others to jump in and do the same, which is just as bad as the original post, most of the time. It helps us do our jobs as mods, and keeps the bickering, bashing, and spamming to a minimum, the way Coomer likes it here @ 6gc. Commer started this site with the idea of this being a place where anyone could come, at any time, to learn and share information about our favorite car, the 6th generation celica, without fear of being bashed, trying new things, or being an individual. Everyone has different ideas and goals, and tastes. Lets all try and be a little more respectful and helpful. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

In all fairness, I think sometimes people want to try to resolve stuff themselves first before "tattling" on someone for posting something that's offensive, ESPECIALLY when it's a regular user on here. I myself would rather resolve any differences first before doing a "report this post" thing and running and telling on someone.
That being said, there is also the "pack mentality" where people tend to jump on a bandwagon and gang up on someone - hence the pages-long bash-threads. I hesitate to suggest that we use PMs to resolve these differences, because that just opens up the possibility of being barraged by bashing PMs, which is really lame. Is there or can there be a reasonable threshold with which one can acceptably attempt to find resolution WITHOUT reporting posts? Then at such a time that it can reasonably be assessed by the individuals involved that resolution cannot be found and the matter at hand just can't be let alone, it can be reported it to the mods? -------------------- ![]() |
