No, you're not stupid, and being a girl has nothing to do with it.But I don't think you do in this particular case. ![]() You obviously don't [or at least didn't] know anything about the procedure, so how can you say it's the wrong way to fix it? I take offense to that Jeremy. You have no idea what I know, but it's a lot more than you think I do. I'm sorry if you do. Just to clear up any possible confusion, I highlighted what I believe you took offense to. I was referring specifically to the procedure that I was talking about, not necessarily car stuff in general. I thought it was clear enough, but possibly it wasn't. You tried to tell me the procedure I referred to couldn't be done the way I said it could. It took me twice to explain it to you [I'm assuming at this point you understand how to do it, at least roughly], so you obviously didn't know what I was talking about. So I don't see how my stating that you didn't know what you were talking about is offensive, especially after you specifically stated that you did. You obviously didn't, and I merely pointed out [politely] that you in fact did not. QUOTE(hurley97 @ Mar 20, 2008 - 7:23 AM) [snapback]655924[/snapback] nowhere did I say your way was "wrong", if he were to do the job in his garage there would be nothing wrong with it. But if you go try and find a shop to do it they will most likely want to do it the other way since they can get more money out of you that way. You didn't specifically state that "my" way was wrong, but you did try to tell me that it couldn't be done the way I suggested, and once I had explained that it in fact could, you insinuated [or at least that's what it looks like] that it was a half assed repair, when in fact it's not at all. I believe "cutting corners" was one of your phrases. Honestly, unless his "help" has the right tools [for measuring the engine parts], and has experience with engines, he's better off NOT doing this in his garage. He can slap the bearings in and hope for the best, but he won't be able to verify that the journal and rod are ok before he does it. It won't cost him much in parts though, so . I agree, it won't be as easy to find a shop willing to do this, but there are good shops that will do it, you just have to look harder [if you're interested in doing it this way]. I'm more than open to any actual reasons WHY it's an incorrect way to do this [for anyone, not specifically aimed at you Stef].
