When I near the top end of the acceleration curve in my '97 GT (5sfe engine) I hear a kind of high-pitched whistle. It's not a squeal, like a belt noise, but similarly pitched. The thing is, it's done this for several months, with no apparent drop in performance or any other negative effects that I've noticed. I will be visiting my local Toyota specialist in the next couple of weeks for a few minor items that I just don't have the time/patience to manage and I'll mention it to them (big shout out to Japanese Auto Masters, Va Beach

So what exactly did you have done to correct it? I did a quick check on mine this morning and actually found a pretty good size crack in the breather hose. It seems that would be too big to create a whistle, but it might be the culprit. Are there any other places in particular I should check? How about gaskets? Thanks again.
