Good wires and plugs will save almost as much as you spend. After spending 150(or so) on Vitek wires and Denso Iridium plugs, my mileage jumped from 28mpg to 33mpg(average over many, many tanks. using miles/gallons and always completely filling the tank).
And they weren't replacing worn parts either. The old plugs had been replaced with NGK platinum less than 5k before the change, and the wires had been replaced about 2k before. I changed them because I took the car for a tuneup(timing), and the @-holes tried to change the plugs after I told them not to and broke one of the wires, I then had to threaten a lawsuit before they'd let me drive it home without buying a $75 set of wires from them. And before anyone starts, I know that driving a car on 3 cylinders isn't good, but my house was less than a mile from the shop(where I had the old wires in a box), and everything checked out fine when I later brought it to Toyota. Not to mention it has since lasted another 70k without a problem. |
