I am the new owner of a 95 celica gt hatchback, I just sold my truck and I have $2500 to spend on my celica. I want to buy a Turbo, what size should I put in, and would I have to bullet proof the block or is it strong enough as is.
Or maybe I should spend it on some custom graphics and a body kit w/wing? Or hell maybe even a system? I even thought about a 3s-gte engine swap but I dont think I want to go that far, or maybe I should. You guys are the experts, Tell me what you think. Thanks in advance for your help, -Brandon -------------------- ![]() |

No kidding man, seriously know your ****e before you go telling some could to act radically and just go out and get a 3sgte. Trust me, a 5sfte isn't going to blow if you run 6psi. You could run like 5 psi with no intercooler for a while even...but the safest way is to run like 7 or 8psi with a intercooler...every once in a while you could bump the boost to 10. I gotta do this to the whole "you will be lucky to get a year if you run low boost" comment... ROTFLMFAO Sorry man but you haven't read much about the whole turboing thing or the swap. You're just going along with all of the others that say "Just do a swap" like bwilson pointed out. NOW, back to the advice...personally if I had 2500 bucks...I'd talk to bwilson. He knows everything about turboing the 5sfe reliably. Then I'd shop around a bit and see if you could hook yourself up with all the necessary parts for cheap. It may take a while, but it's worth it...because then you could have some money left over possibly to put towards new tires, better clutch, upgraded suspension, etc. to make your car a much more sound machine. With my RX7, I started with upgrading the braking, suspension, and drivetrain before adding any serious power. I actually have run out of money for the time being to upgrade the power...but wow...just think about it...which would you rather have: A car that goes fast in a straight line or a car that can go pretty quick around any corner that comes its way? Wow, I get off track really easily, I'm kinda out of it tonight. Hey man, just do whatveer floats yer boat...just know that bwilson's guide on the Engine/Performance forum is the place to look on how to turbo your car. -------------------- 95 Toyota Celica GT
