So I don't know what anyone has heard but in 2009, but of course only in Europe, Audi is producing the new TT which gets about 44mpg. Granted gas is like 7 dollars overseas but still! It is a diesel engine and apparently can go 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. That is not horrible. Are there any cars in America that can meet that?

On a road trip, I got up to 55 mpg in one of the new Jetta TDIs. Not american though. On a side note, the toyota prius is a pretty lame car. It is terribly slow, and once your turn on the AC (used often here in texas) your "efficient" car is not so efficient anymore.
