which would rally humanity to admit its faults and live forever in peace? an indefatigable superhero to punish evildoers or extra-terrestrials that would dominate us and force us to get along with the threat of annhiliation (sp?)?

dont matter.
Mankind fights amongst one another untill something more threatening comes along. Then we get along, long enough to kick it's ass. So super hero or alien, It would only last as long as it takes us to kill it.
