In the last little while, Ive had it with my celica. I was on my last straw for awhile with it, but these last 2 weeks, im past it. In the last 2 weeks ive found out i need new ball joints, tierods, drivers side strut, strut mounts, strut rod bushings, front wheelbearings, 1 rear wheel bearing and on top of that the other day i blew a brake line. Not a flex line, but a hard line..like coming from the perposioning valve down and too the rear. So, ive been thinkin about it for awhile, and im done. I have all the parts i need to fix it except my strutrod bushings that ive been waiting on for the last 9 months from Toyotaworld. Apparently they are on the way from Texas right now, but then agian, they have been on their way for almost 2 weeks now.
Any ways, once the cars fixed, Im gonna be doing some minor rust repair on it, cleanin up the interior a bit, repainting my shifter surround and radio surround. Any ways once Im done, its going up for sale. Im gonna post it in the trader and on Kijiji and Craigslist. Any ways, I hate to say it, but im considering going over to the dark side. I was considering gettin a WRX, but ive heard alot of horror stories about them and the cheapest WRX i can find 5spd is like $14K CND with almost 200xxxKM on it. So im also considering gettin a RSX. Ive seen them for anywhere between $8K and $12500, the price difference is between either a 5spd permium package base model and a Type-S. Im thinking im gonna go with a base model just because its cheaper and i can still make it pretty quick. My plan is to get one in black on black, JDM Honda badges, JDM blackhousing headlights, Type-R spoiler, redded out tails, Type-S side skirts, replica mugen lips, tinted windows, black rims with a red lip. Normaly, i would say no to Honda, but I like the sound of K20A motor. Bigger Honda motors dont have that anoying misquito sound coming from the exhaust. Even though i wont be owning a celica any more, i will be envolved with the 6GC comunity after the fact. Im still going to be building Sarah's coupe (Keroppi), and helping out any of the Ontario 6GC members with their cars. So Ill still be around, still keeping active in the 6GC community. I will update this thread when i sell Shelly, and get my new car. This car club was the first car club and community ive ever been apart of, so I am definatly going to be around. i like it mate. You could make that look awesome! What did you decide on the wheels? I decided on a set of Maxxim Airs in what they call Carbon..but its semi gloss black. They are only 15s, but are lightweight and made by Konig, so they are good quality. I think they only weigh somethin like 14 or 15lbs each, not much, so it should be nice. Im gonna get my buddy who does vynals to try and make me some flatblack and red honda H logos for the center caps to make em match a bit better. Eventually i wanna get somethin like the red lips, like you did on your wheels. lol you guys^^^... anyway, this is why I love this site too much, the member's passion for the celica. Bryan, congrats on your new acquisition. Hope it turns out better than your celica. I know, you will make that car better in preformance and handling just like you took care of your celica. Hope to see you soon with the new ride buddy. Thanks Derick. Im kinda disapointed in some of the repsonses ive gotten from alot of the other 6gc members. Like the frist response i felt kinda taken back by. "Oh, its one of thouse SIs i dont like"...if you dont like it, then please, just keep it to your self. Yes i asked for opinions on the car, but you could just leave it as "i dont like it as much as the celica" or "i dont like it" Yea i do know its not as sleek as the celica, and yea it doesnt have the same lower end torque as the celica, but it does produce more HP then the celica does, and for the weight of the car it does move pretty good. As for the comment left by 95celicaST, maybe the one you took out was in need of some work, because this car has only springs and camber kits done and it has limited body roll and accelerates pretty good. Even a bone stock 04 with more miles i took out for a rip handeled good out of the bag. And i mean, common, your saying it accelerated slower then an ST?? I dont think any thing is slower in accelration than an ST. I do admit, i am kinda hating givin up the celica, but its time for me to get somethin that i can actually drive. My celica is great, when stuff isnt breaking. Like in the last month alone i need the fallowing work done...New brake lines front to rear, new gas lines front to rear, new ball joints (both sides), new outter tie rods (both sides), new drivers side strut cartidge, new passangerside shock mount, new rear strut rod bushings. And gettin parts for the celica is easy at times yes, but i mean..im going on 10 months now waiting for my strut rod bushings to come in from Japan, and thats not by some cheap ebay company...this is by Toyotaworld too, one of the best toyota dealerships in the U.S. I honestly considered buyin a newer celica, but with all the hassel i found trying to get parts for my celica, i wanted somethin that i knew would be reliable, somethin that i knew would last me, and somethin i knew would be cheap to maintaine and get parts for. I mean common, how many honda owners have you ever met who complain about not being able to find a part for their car?? Even hard to find JDM parts are easy to find compaired to stuff for our cars. Like i know 5 suppliers of real Mugen stuff in Toronto, and yet i dont know of 2 companies within ontario that would sell stuff like j-speed or c-one. Yes there are tons of honda out there, and yes there are millions of civic out there, but an EP3 like this is pretty rare up here. |
