i know for the honda engine, the engine names mean something. like the h22.

h- h series

22- 2.2 liter

the same for bmw like the 325

3- 3 series

25- 2.5 liter

i was just wondering what 3s-gte or 5s-fe, etc. means because it would be interesting maybe

S= the series
T= Turbo
Z= Supercharger
G= Performance
F= Economy

And the "E" and number at the begining of each engine code is a mystery to me.

As for BMW's the 325 is the Car name, not the engine name, although the last 2 numbers are the engine size. Same with 240sx, and the 300zx.

The 240sx has a 2.4 liter engine but the engine code is SR20DE.
