I'm trying to find a clean spot to mount the GPS, because I didn't want to use the windshield mount. What are your suggestions to how I can make it integrate with the car better? I was thinking a custom panel piece, but I've tried it before, and let's say it didn't turn out well.

if you stilll arent happy with that set up you can always put it next to your e-brake.... i ran into the same problme when i got my satelittle radio, and found that keeping down ther is very nice... But you have to take your eyes off the road to look at it:(
