OK,
YES I KNOW THIS ISNT A 6GC BUT I THOUGHT ID ASK.... TO START OFF, MOST OF YALL KNOW MY CAR IS TOTALLED AND I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR CELICAS IN THE AREA THAT I CAN BUY, BUT HTE MORE I LOOK INTO IT, I WOULD RATHER HAVE AN MR2... So the coice for the engine is the 5sgte... mainly becaues its bigger displacement and the walls are thicker, coolant passages are routed differently but still join up, thicker passages and no weak spot between cyl head 2 and 3.... this means i can boost high, run nitrous and race gas without much worry of cracking the block! yay! hmm so mechanically i have the same engine choices for swaps... or am i not getting the point? to me it looks like it would be the same basics in swapping a celica as it would be swapping a mr2....

The swap basics would be the same, just with less space in the MR2. Easiest way is to just buy the MR2 turbo so you don't have to worry about it. You basically have the same choices in engines, but with a "better" platform to use it with on the MR2. I try not to use the term "better", since it's more of an opinion, but it's hard to argue that an MR platform wouldn't make better use of the potential of an engine than a FF platform would (especially if you want to build big HP numbers). So I say if you plan on building an engine well over 300hp, then it would be worth it to you to get the MR2, because unless you someday plan on going AWD with the Celica, all the power is just going to go to waste since you wont be able to get traction with FF. Good luck with whatever you choose to go with though -------------------- |
