if i were to put the same model subs in either or...

Convertible? Hahahaha!! Sound system FTL... Unless you have mad custom work.
I'm running an 2) 12's in an open face (not ported) box in the trunk facing forward. It was build optimized for a 03 cougar hatch for sound wave reflection, however in the 6gen vert, i'm going to say that you need to have a bit more bite than a bazooka can put out, otherwise your wasting... Unless you can cram that bazooka close to you, then go with a box. (custom work is pref # 1) Good luck
