hey guys. i will soon be painting my aftermarket rims. right now i have my stock rims back on. i was wondering if i would be able to remove the tires by myself to make painting easier. the tires are basically bald so i was planning on deflating each tire and maybe start hacking away at it with an axe or something.
is this a good idea? anyone else done it? i know i can get it done at a shop but if its easy doing it myself i can save like 20 bux. |

QUOTE hey. i had an awesome idea to get the new tired on. i would lay down the newly bought tires directly on top of the bare rim and drive over it. the weight of my car pushing down on the tire would surely force it into place. You won't get the tire on the rim like this but this actually does work to break the bead loose. Don't actually drive on the rim though and it only works if you have a stock size wheel and tire.
