well,i bought Chinaman's celica two weeks ago, and it's just been running worse and worse since i got it. rough idle, poor acceleration, just horrible engine performance all around. friday night it threw the Check Engine light and later it would barely move. i found myself literally "flooring" it to get moving at all. so today i decided to borrow a friends tools, change my plugs, wires, and fuel filter and ....Voila! problems solved. runs great now. very strong, no hesitation, no bogging down, smooth idle too! And No more Check Engine Light.
![]() I used NGK wires, and NGK Laser platinum plugs, and a Napa (Wixx) Fuel Filter. tomorrow i will hopefully change the cap, rotor, pcv valve, valve cover gasket with a friend, along with the CV shaft (never done that). Erich |

i figured it would be hard to change the Fuel filter at first just because it sits at an odd spot. and im used to the quick release Ford type filters. the filter was OEM i think too. made by Denso.. and im told Toyota no longer uses denso anymore? and the car has 140K miles on it. lol
anyway, it was very easy. take intake off, and its right there on the wall of the bay.rear side of the battery. i bought a filter from napa. with the mounting bracket assembly on the filter. i took out the mounting bolts, loosened the top bolt on the filter, raised the fuel line up so it wouldn't drain anything out(or very little), then took the bottom bolt out. I had to really use some effort on these bolts, so gloves might be a good idea in such confined space..im going to give a try changing the cv shaft today. along with the balljoints. hopefully everything goes well. then seafoam later...
