Murder implies intent, it won't go for murder.

murder = homicide

causing death by street raicing = reckless homicide --- roughly 2-8 years in jail

therefore, murder is technically accurate.....but I know what you mean.

Murder doesn't = homicide. Homicide is the killing of one person by another. Murder is the killing of another person with intent. All murders are homicides but not all homicides are murders. So while this is a homicide, the drivers certainly didn't intend to kill.

I agree that is the common understanding of the term. However, I was just pointing out that in many (most?) jurisdictions, recklessness that results in death can constitute "murder" under the law.
