For about a week or two I've had this low whine that I can hear when I start it up and when I'm driving anywhere below 2k RPM. I've looked under the hood while it's running, and I can only guess that it's the alternator. I did have my timing belt/water pump done in October, and I've heard they tend to whine, so could it just be that?

quick way to see if its the alternator....unplug the connector that goes to the back of it. if the whining stops its probably the alt whining a little. dont worry about it till it stops working.

otherwise the intake can whine a little as well as the trans, more so in 1st gear for an automatic.

Cool deal, I'll try the alternator trick. And it's a manual, but I doubt it's my intake since it's stock.
