Okay. It's late. 2:30 am..
I just went to the gas station for a pack of smokes. When I was getting out of my car, I hear what sounded like an import pulling into the parking lot. I look and see this local hillbilly dude in his Ford Contour. He threw on some performance, honda-esque muffler, took the hubcaps off his wheels, sprayed them black, and put some racing stickers in his rear windows. I'm anything but a "car bully"...but are these people for real? I would feel like the biggest ass driving around in a fraudulent "street racer"... The only thing he was missing was the cardboard body kit. I seriously laughed out loud in the parking lot. It's insulting to those of us who spend every day under our hoods and in our cars. |

I think D-Man and I need a 7-11 to hang out in front of.
![]() I understand the rodded geo and all that...my thing is that I saw this car the day before and it was completely "stock".. Meaning - he tossed the muffler and the racing stickers on over night. I doubt he had time to turbo it or do any real mods for that matter. Personally, I just couldn't drive around with such pretentiousness. Again, I think it's insulting to the people who actually work on their cars regularly. We could have bought a bunch of stickers and called it a day too. As far as the budget issue goes - I have an eight month old boy and my celi is my DD. I'm on a serious budget...so if my car was stock, there's no way I'd stick a huge "K&N" sticker on my back window. I'd save my quarters. The money spent on wheel paint, hotrod stickers and a cheap exhaust could have covered an intake. That's a start, right? This post has been edited by Spitrod: Sep 19, 2008 - 12:16 PM |
