Hi guys, I am a 5th Gen ST185 owner, and I am just curious in finding info on making the full swap with the AWD into a ST20X chasis. I know one person in the swaps section tried performing the swap but had alignment issues, and that is as much information that I have found.
What I am basically looking for is the following: o How well does the rear end align up from the ST185 to a ST20X chasis o Where is the fuel tank usually placed? o How well does the suspension match up from the ST185 to the 6th gen? o Is there sufficent room for the driveshaft tunnel to make it from the engine bay to the rear diff? o Any other links from people who have successfully made the conversion? o Would purchasing a full ST205 cut in half be more feasible than sourcing parts from a ST185? |

Ehh, to buy a ST205 and then try to "legalize" it would be a PITA. First off yes the chasis can be proven as being a car that was legally sold in the US, but I don't think the AWD is considered a similar car. I know the above has been done with Hondas because, quite frankly, most Hondas that come to the US unchanged. Next, if I were to buy a ST205 and then convert it to being "legalized" then I would say that just swapping VINS and/or replacing dashes and swapping the steering rack with column would be a simpler choice in my opinon
Thats not what I was asking, but I will reiterate my original post. I like the ST185. .. .but I like the looks of the ST205 even more. Maybe I am just bored on how the ST185 looks, or I want a car that is not as ragged and beated on. . . needless to say I want something new and entirely different. HP is not an issue here. If I was really seriuos in looking into performance, then I would just decide on getting an FD3S or the like for better power and handling. I really just want a unique and interesting car. . ..
