Hey guys,

I did a quick search on this but didn't find anything on it. My motor in my 96 Celi GT blew last week and I had already rebuilt a 95 5SFE motor from my Camry, but the Camry isn't running so I am swapping in that motor to my Celica. I knew I would have to switch over some accesories and the wiring and a few brackets but my concern now is that the 95 5SFE motor has the oil pump without the sensor, while the 96 has the oil pump with the sensor.

Now I am faced with this issue and needed to know how serious it is. I honestly have tapped out my funds and don't have the $150 to purchase another pump, not to mention that I would have to crack open the rebuilt motor again. I know we already have an oil pressure sender in the head so I am not sure how important that oil pump sensor truely is. Ultimatley if it is direly necessary I will just have to wait till i do have the funds but I would like to avoid that as I now have to share the other Celi with my gf and I drive 43miles to work each day so its entirely difficult sharing the cars.

Any information that can be provided would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yea once I took the accessories off the motor and pulled the sensor last week I realized it was the crank sensor so I obviously need to use it to retain all factory wiring and ECU.

Motor blew at highway speeds of about 85 with close to no oil in the motor due to a bad front main seal and rear main seal, both found post-teardown.

The blown motor had 145K on it so I would prefer to not swap that over on a motor that has machine work into it, new parts, and my personal labor of assembly. Also looking forward, the Celica will most likely get into some autocrossing in 2009 so a brand new pump or a performance pump would be ideal.
