i was talking to a friend of mines and he said he found a 1999 celica for 7k. it's got a little over 140k miles but pretty mint with no rust. is it worth that 7k just for a celica? i mean you have to factor in its reliability and all other toyota crap like usual

I would say you never know about a used car with high mileage, old-ish year, and beautiful appearance. Either you are getting a good deal, or someone is about to have their way with your wallet (if you were to end up buying this car). I can say from experience that just because the car looks immaculate on the outside, it may be a big fat problem the last owner didn't want to deal with. We bought my old (now it's dads) '91 Chevy Camaro in april (already 99 degrees farenheit in louisiana) with 178k miles, 5 inches of shrivelled vinyl on the top, and some exhaust fumes comming back into the cabin (I always had the windows or more down) for 6,500. It ran like a beast until it started getting colder and my dad and I have replaced the fuel filter, water temperature sensor, temp guage, switched to a heavier oil (the engine wasn't holding enough oil pressure) air flow sensor, map sensor, oxygen sensor (no it's not the computer if thats what you're thinking), rebuilt the throttle body, replaced the fuel pump and were still stumped. If you're thinking of going for that car, seriously-inspect EVERYTHING. I'd hook it up to a computer too, just to see if the car's computer is giving any bad readings. You might should go far enough to have a shop look at it.
