hi there guys,
When my celica is turned on from cold, the accelerator peddle seems to be blocked/stuck. I am not able to gentley press it. I have to push it hard with my foot and then the acceleration peddle becomes smooth. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is it a throttle pump? |

9x out of 10 it's just the Throttle plate sticking to the walls of the TB due to gumming up over time - it's very common on our cars. A quick squirt of carb cleaner will fix it temporarily - a better way to fix it would be to use the Carb cleaner and a red rag and get it all nice and clean again.
The others above were correct and being more thorough than I but I've had this exact problem on several Celicas and it was always what I described. ![]() -------------------- ![]() ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.
