hi there guys,

When my celica is turned on from cold, the accelerator peddle seems to be blocked/stuck. I am not able to gentley press it. I have to push it hard with my foot and then the acceleration peddle becomes smooth.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is it a throttle pump?

9x out of 10 it's just the Throttle plate sticking to the walls of the TB due to gumming up over time - it's very common on our cars. A quick squirt of carb cleaner will fix it temporarily - a better way to fix it would be to use the Carb cleaner and a red rag and get it all nice and clean again.
The others above were correct and being more thorough than I but I've had this exact problem on several Celicas and it was always what I described. wink.gif

Actually that's impossible.
Toyota coated the inside of the throttle bodies with a special Teflon polymer that doesn't allow sludge and oil residue to stick.
Ok, I'm just bulls h i t t ing you, that's probably what it is. biggrin.gif
I just like to cover all the bases [if I can].
