you gotta love americans crying about fuel prices, this year with the earlier exchange rates when the pound sterling was strong against the dollar, the fuel prices were at their highest also, we as in the UK and Ireland were paying £1.29 per LITRE that equates at the time it was over $2 to the pound

So do your maths

1 Litre £1.29 ($2.58) @$2 per £1 for arguments sake but i do remember it going as high as $2.10 this year
1 Gallon (UK 4.55 litres) £5.87 ($11.74)

THATS ELEVEN DOLLARS SEVENTY FOUR CENTS PER GALLON PEOPLE we were getting shafted for fuel, it was costing me £102 to fill the Carlos Sainz at that time so we were truly out of pocket compared to you guys across the pond

Europeans drive a fraction of the amount that Americans do. Not to mention your cars are more fuel efficient, you have better designed and more available public transit, or the fact that so many towns are pedestrian friendly with most everything within walking distance. You could fit FIVE Irelands into Florida alone! So if anyone is whining, it's you trying to make us feel like you have it so bad. That just isnt the case here.

Not to mention that anytime something so essential to everyday life DOUBLES in price within the span of a year or two, there's going to be a fuss about it.

Buddy i don't where your getting your information from, I do forty thousand miles per year in the puma and about five thousand in the ST205. The average over here is fifteen thousand per annum. Also I don't know where your getting the idea we have a better transport system because that is pure an utter crap, Ireland has the worst transport system i've ever seen and i've lived and visited many places in the northern hemisphere including living in Louisiana USA for 14 months. London and the rest of England are pretty good for public transport but whilst i was in Lafayette LA i was surprised for such a small town the public transport was well adequate for the population of people commuting to and fro. Over here on the news public transport gets slated constantly for trains being late and cancelled. Bus's being too old and not up to scratch, the list goes on, the only good thing but thats soon to change is the price of airfairs, i travelled to glasgow and nice and it never cost me a penny i just had to turn up at the gate. But thats not what we're discussing. Haulage companies have trucks on the road day and night and they are paying the same as we are, and its more expensive again for diesel.
If anything you guys will get better milage than us because of the freeways. Here in northern ireland the longest motorway is 34miles long the rest is all single carriage way so so its constant stopping and starting. So buddy we are truly getting shafted here. You say our cars is more economical thats true but you had a choice to go buy a 5.7Hemi over a small european or japanese car or for that matter your trusty american ford focus, just like i chose but there is loads of trucks, SUV's MPV's over there and i could count how many cars in Derry that have engines over 4 litre in 2 hands and thats out of a population of 220000. (Big engines cars also get severe tax from the government). Over here popular small cars like the mini cost £18k todays value US dollars is $28.5k. Over here in the UK the motorist is the biggest criminal for committing the crime of owning a car, your cars over there are alot cheaper to buy and to run. I'd say a 1.6VTS Citroen Saxo would do the same equivalent of miles per dollar as your large SUV's. When you come to Ireland and live for 14months you can lecture me on who's getting shafted and who's not as i have first hand experience of it.
