Subwoofer durability? Options

So I dont know if its just bad sales reps selling me whatever they want or whatever but it seems like i rip thru subwoofers really fast (either the VC blows or with my infinity subwoofers the wire that connects to the spider on the cone actually physically seperates) what would yall suggest for a 1000 watt (MAX) amp (kenwood excelon) ? I was rockin 2 12" eclipse titanium subs that just blew after about a year and a half of use/abuse which is the longest ive ever made any subs last. they would usually blow after a couple of weeks and then the sales rep would act like i went out of my way to destroy it when i would try to get it replaced.

I have experience that shows that you needen't buy a special amp for your special woofer, but rather if you have 2 12's, DONT max out the Gain, Bass, VO control, ensure that you use the Low Freq. settings or run an external X-Over and turn down the freq. and (ect.) Well, that's how poor people like me do it. SURE i COULD go out and buy a new amp for every sub i have, OR i could just NOT abuse the woofers and they'll play just fine

But I may be wrong... I've finaly had mine begin to go out on me in the last few months, and they are litterly no-name, Dirt cheap, Flea-Market specials. Had them for.... 7 going on 8 years now; i believe? Never Ever bought a matching amp. Control is the key IMHO.
