Ok, so for the past year + I've been having these bad dreams (practically nightmares) about my car being vadalized, broken into, stolen, beaten on ect... It only happens once in a while, but I have no idea why. Today though, I was bored at work and started thinking about how these types of dreams keep comming back to me. I pretty much settled on that it must be my subconscience telling me something about my obsession with the car (either I'm overly protective, or not enouph or something idk).
Anyway, when I get out of work today, I come out to my car covered in saran wrap. Mind you, mine was the only one in the whole parking lot (of at least 20 other cars around) that had saran wrap around it. At first I was pretty mad, but then after going around the car and making sure there weren't any scratches or dents they might have done, I calmed down a little (that was one of my biggest concerns)... So, originally I thought it was my one friend b/c he likes to be a jokester like that, but after talking to him and another one of his buddies I pretty much ruled him out since his story of drinking for the past few hours kind of checked out (he sounded pretty wasted lol). Now that I've ruled him out, I'm thinking either a) one of my coworkers(I'm pretty chill with everyone there, so I don't think it was meant to be mean) or b) since I park in the same spot everyday and my car stands out more than alot others I thought it might be a customer that goes there often recognized my car. If it's the second of the two, I'm actually kind of afraid they will try more sh** that might be worse and cause damage. The ironic thing is that I used to be more afraid of the area my other job is in than this one, but now... ![]() coincidence....? Sorry for the rant, wanted to get that out. But my big question for you guys is, do you ever get dreams (nightmares) of something happening to your cars? I'm wondering if I might be alone in this or what. -------------------- |

I think you're having the dreams because your personal identity is too wrapped up in your car, and you're feeling some sort of insecurity or having self esteem issues; either way, you feel personally threatened and it's manifesting itself in your dreams by being the car that's threatened. Some part of you identifies yourself by your car and there's a clear sense of fear that if something happened to your car, it would be damaging to you as a person.
So with that psychoanalysis, I suggest the following: 1, I don't remember how old you are but if you're old enough to not be raped by insurance companies, increase your insurance to comprehensive. 2, take a break from your car. Dig deep and do some soul searching. We all love our cars on here, it's what brings us together on the site. But the reality is that there's bigger fish to fry, and it's just a material object. I'd be devastated if something really bad happened to my car. But still - it's no more or less a car than yours or anyone else's on here, because it's still just metal and plastic. I know you're a really smart guy, and it sounds like maybe you've temporarily lost site of your spiritual priorities. I don't necessarily mean like God and all that stuff. I mean just internally; the things that really matter in this world. Being healthy, being gainfully employed and not out of a job like SO many others right now, being loved, being able to love, being able to breathe, see, feel... whatever. Now especially is a great time to reflect on that stuff, in the midst and flurry of this mass consumerist season. And if you see dead people in your sleep, it's no big deal. It's when you see them when you're NOT sleeping that it gets a little freaky. ![]() -------------------- ![]() |
