It's raining here today, so that means headlights on. I parked my car a little while ago and went inside for a couple of hours. When I went to leave, I started my car up, started to leave the parking lot, and turned my headlights on. When I turned them on, the entire electrical system died for just a moment and just about killed the motor. That's the first time this has ever happened, and I'm curious what happened. Any ideas?

The battery is maintenance free, so that's still fine.
Enderswift, I do still have all of the splash guards on my car. I can't figure out what it was, but it hasn't done it again since then. So I figure it was water getting into the engine bay somewhere, could very well have been the alternator. On the under side of my hood, there is a dirty spot where it looks like the belt is getting wet then throwing water onto the hood, so it could be the alternator. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates.
