double whishbone suspension, what is it?

aznpnoy12 View Member Profile Enthusiast Joined Nov 13, '02 Currently Offline Reputation: 0 (0%)	hey all, so i was reading car and driver magazine a few days back. in it it was saying all these things about double wishbone suspensions. what is that anyways? do our cars have that? what makes it better then other suspensions? well i was just hoping that some of u guys can help me calrify this for me. thanx.

Many hondas use a double wishbone suspension. There is a U-shaped upper control arm which connects to a fork shaped arm that goes down to the spindle. Anyway, it moves the upper ball joint out over the tire for a sportier feel when turning. The downside is that it limits what wheel and tire combos you can fit in the wheel well without rubbing the upper ball joint. Our cars have a McPherson strut setup. There is no upper ball joint.

is that why you see those bars going from the wheels to the bottom of the car? i think it looks ugly.
