Just jacked the car up for a service to find that I have torn the right hand side outter CV boot and the left hand side has cracks and looks like it may tear soon.
Is it worth replacing the cv on the rhs or just the boot? Is it a big job? I shouldn't need to replace the axle will I? Ill get photos up soon. I searched but could find anything that helped me. Im sure someone out there will find what im after but i tried. i tried to replace my cv boot myself but i couldn't figure it out but i didn't use any manuals or anything though. since i get free axles anyway i just went and replaced the entire axle. it's easier to swap the axle instead of replacing the torn boot with a new one. but seeing that your driver-side axle (the longer axle) is torn, so you will also need to swap the axle carrier bearing housing from the old axle to the new axle. the carrier can be easily removed and installed using a hydraulic press.
also, i have a brand new cv boot from Toyota that i don't need anymore.. so if you want to try replacing your cv boot, pm me. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
