hello i am thinking about taking my 3sge engine celica and converting it into a turbo, in theory mechanics said it would work all i would need to do is buy a set of lower compression piston rings from the st205 which i have been told are the same bore size pistons. Buy a celica turbo manifold and turbo and make a custom from pipe to match up with my stainless steel exhaust system. Then make a custom inlet manifold to except the turbo feed after making a custom intercooler radiator and pipe work. But i am struggling to work out how to tell the engine to increase fuel pressure when the turbo is spooling. I know that this probably sounds stupid, but can't afford a gt4 or expensive engine swops.
Also i don't understand half the engines that you quote in the conversion guide. Are we saying a st202 3sge transmission will except a gen 5 turbo top end and just need wiring comversion and fuel adjustments or am i getting it wrong. I love in the UK and cannot find many people to talk to about the car everybody seems to love the explosive RS turbo Escorts and Cosworths where i live. I have already done some engine work including piper performance cams, doulbe valve springs and piper pulleys but i can beat the rs turbo's but struggle against the Cosworth Sapphires. Any help or guide would be great as i am still getting to grips the in in's and outs of the car thanks |
