So I was looking online for a HO alt for my poor 7A, and i came across this page stating you could use a stock GM type on our Toyotas, getting a very good idle output, and very high total output. I know i may be flamed for putting a domestic part on my Toyota, but to get more power to my batteries and system and CarPC I think it would be worth it

It's not that much of a stretch to use a GM part on a 7AFE, given that GM used this engine on a number of their small cars -- which is the reason why engines were not one of the problem areas on Metros, for example.
