hey y'all,

really need some solid advice here. what can i expect to pay for a 3sgte swap. i have a line on an engine/tranny for a really good price. i've checked-out the shop where the work was done and they seem to have a solid reputation. 45 years in the business and no complaints to the BBB. shop looked tidy and the techs were mature, experienced-looking and friendly. did not specifically mention the engine or what i was looking for, just a general "how's it going, i'm looking for a shop for some work on a car" conversation with the guy behind the desk.

the question here is:

how much can i expect a swap to cost excluding the price of the engine/tranny?
wiring, turbo, wastegate, tuning, dyno tests, piping, intercoolers, how much does that all cost before i can put the car back on the road?

here is the link to the ad: http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-p...QAdIdZ106638175

thanks

r.

if you do most of the work yourself, 4-5k is a realistic price for a complete swap.
dont bother with anything that isnt a 3rd gen clip or complete engine set including intercooler, pump, h.e., ect.
you can get them under 3k, and doing the work yourself can do everything right ~5k, including tranny and all.

X10000000,

I wouldnt even waste your time/money getting a motor set, because there are so many parts you can sell off the GT4 clip that will bring down the cost a TRUE COMPLETE MOTOR SET, well below what you can actually buy a motor set for to begin with. If you like the look of the GT4 conversion obviously get the clip, because there is tremendous savings to be had going this route. I bought a clip and went with an MR2 LSD tranny.....end cost with paint of the new GT4 parts, clutch, 3" DP, Intake, FCD, WI, all new Gaskets, all maintenance done, Eurou Lip, High flow Performance W2A IC pump, etc....EVERYTHING the way my car is currently set up/looks was about 5000. Now this was with ZERO labor costs.

Complete Swap with S54 and GEN3 swap is about 3000$

Complete swap With E153 and GEN3 swap is about 3500$

Complete swap with LSD E153 and GEN3 swap is about 4000$

Complete swap with LSD E153 and GEN3 swap with GT4 conversion is about 5000$

All prices are with ZERO labor costs, and buying a complete clip and selling off unwanted parts.
