As several people have asked me by PM about the work involved in getting my SS-III splitters fitted onto my pre-facelift bumper I thought I would post the information here for everyone to see. I hope you find the info useful.
OK, here goes..... The SS-III splitters I fitted are in fact copies that came from Heidiko in Hong Kong - full list of their Gen 6 parts at http://www.hediko.com/96-99%20Celica%20Parts.htm . Ignore what it says about only fitting a facelift front bumper The splitters simply bolt on using the same bolts that hold the engine undertray on but require a tiny amount of tweaking. The method I use is to remove the engine undertray bolts and jamming some dowel into each of the fittings so I can line up the splitters - this means you don't have to keep putting the bolts in and taking them out again as you can just use the dowels to line up on. The splitters will bold pretty much straight on but in order to get a factory fit you need to elongate the bolt holes slightly with a file and you don't want to take too much off - this is where the dowels are invaluable as they allow you to keep checking easily. Once you have got them to fit perfectly simply take the dowels out and fit using the bolts that secure the engine undertray. You can of course bond them on but if you ever need to remove the front bumper then this can be a pain so I tend to either leave as is or use a couple of blobs of clear sillicone that you can then just cut through easily. Some pics of the final effect - sorry about the quality but I took them on my mobile phone. ![]()
