Alright so my car has an old kenwood radio/tapedeck combo pretty much identical to the stock radio. i play my ipod through the tapeplayer with one of those tape ipod deals. the other day (im not sure if this is why) someone slammed my door pretty hard and now the passenger side front speaker just whines when i play the tape player (think of that high pitched mosquito ringtone). so i've just been putting the balance all on the drivers side-HOWEVER- when i put the radio on the radio function, i can get sound out of all my speakers, no issue.

I have stock speakers and what not-i dont know how old this kenwood is but its just tape and radio it had a ten disk changer in the back but i took it out cuz i dont have the magazine in it...the cord still runs to my trunk also.

How can i isolate different things to figure out what it is, i dont want to buy another tape thing and i can take the door panel off no prob, but if it (the speaker) works when i play the radio i dont see how it can be that, can be it.

Side note, can anyone please post good aftermarket radios with a tape/cd combo? just one cd. I really like being able to play my ipod through the tape thing cuz the reception is clear and i can still select songs on my ipod. I know some units will block the ipods screen (like alpine it just says alpine on the ipod) i dont like that.

All help is appreciated-sorry for the novel
thanks

The double din thing is a great option but they're expensive.

97Celiman, I would HIGHLY recommend you get a new deck and yes, forget the tape thing. Really. Move on, let it go. It's not doing you any favors and it's outdated technology.

I would very highly recommend this Alpine deck to replace your current deck. You can probably find it a little cheaper if you shop around, too, but even at $300, it's a fantastic deck for the money. My girlfriend has this deck in her car; its sound quality is outstanding, it has a CD player as you wanted, and you are able to control your iPod through the face of the deck itself, leaving the iPod connected (and charging!) in your glove box.

As for speakers, there are numerous possibilities that will fit our car. These Infinity Reference are a good quality and inexpensive upgrade from stock. They'll also fit the rears if you decided to upgrade all 4 speakers.
