I have a 94 Celica GT. I recently repainted my engine bay, completely took all the power steering lines out of the bay pretty much everything except for the steering rack. I put it all back together filled it with dextron tranny fluid and then bled the system turning by the wheel back and forth tell it hit the stops. The pump was working fine I could see the fluid flowing through the resivior. I set the car down and drove it out of the garage and it didn't have any power steering. The pump makes no noise, I open the resivior and I cannot see any fluid moving. I got a used pump from the junkyard put it in, the exact same thing happened. I am completely baffled. Any Ideas on whats going on? Thanks for the help in advance.

well to start off you should have used power steering fluid and not tranny fluid as they are 2 separate things. This may or may not have lead to your problems. I suggest removing everything and filling it with the correct fluid.
Are you sure you are filling into the power steering system in the correct place? Have you installed the lines correctly? Did you reinstall the belt correctly? Various things could have caused this. |
