im don't know where to post this but im thinking about getting one for my car. are they legal in the state of california?

I have an older model of a Whistler radar/laser detector. My dad has a beltronics 940. I'd definitely advise you to get something besides whistler, i dont know if they've improved from the one i have, but i can see cops before this thing goes off, no lie.
My dads beltronics on the other hand, picks them up from wayyyyyyyy far. I realize that the cheapest beltronics is $100 more than you wanna spend but, you get what you pay for.
