I just received a bunch of parts from 1sttoyotaparts.com and one of them was a Toyota oil filter. After some research online, it turns out that these are actually quite well made so I thought I would give it a try. When it arrived, I noticed that it had a dent in the top.

Here are a couple links to pictures of the filter:

Now from what I have read online, it seems that people are 50/50 on whether it is safe to use a dented filter. What do you guys think? Will that dent cause any performance issues with the filter? From what I know, the bypass valve is on that end of the filter, but is that dent in a place where it would affect the function of the valve?

Thanks for the opinions guys. I guess it should be safe to use!

What else did I get? Lets see:

Valve cover gasket. I think mine may have a leak out the backside, but I can't tell for sure so I figure I'll take it off, clean it up and see how things are doing inside.

Valve cover goo. (FIPG)

EGR Modulator. I was still getting an EGR code being thrown so I figured I'd replace a few more related parts.

Hose from Modulator to EGR. The original hose fit a lot looser than the new one.

Engine Name plate. Mine is all scratched up from those plastic clips that hold the spark plug wires in place.

PCV Valve.

...because this

is just gross.

PS: Pictures are a lot more fun than just writing down what I got. smile.gif Also, I got all of this for about $70 less than the local Toyota dealer wanted for JUST the modulator.
