the other day one of the lights behind my spedometer burnt out so I'm just going to change the color of them while I'm back there. Now i know there's a how to in the stickies, but it really didn't make any sense to me. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

You're welcome.
To answer your last question:
Nope. The needles do not have their own light source. They take it from the three mentioned bulbs. So your needle color is gonna be the same color as the dials. You could paint the needles red and use white bulbs, then you would get white dials with red needles...
