So basically I have a 94 gt with the 8 speaker setup. 2 speakers in the doors, 2 speakers in the back, and 2 tweeters. The factory amp that comes with the car blew, and now I want to replace all of the speakers and install a headunit. I took out the factory amp and am trying to wire all the speakers directly to the headunit(since the harness goes to the factory amp). But I do not want to blow the headunit since it is only supposed to power 4 speakers, not 8. So what should I do? Also, replacing the 8" speakers is kind of annoying. Has anyone replaced them with 6.5? Thanks for the help guys.

There is a write up on how to put aftermarket speakers in the door. The speaker in the door is actually a 6.5" mid. Its very easy to install a 6.5" in its place. I recently put aftermarket speakers in my car. Components in the front and 6.5 mid in the rear. If you are going to replace the stock speakers, I would recommend just getting a 3 way component set up. You dont need 8 speakers. 3 way in the front and a sub in the trunk. All the sound you will need. I'll post some pics of my install.
