Im sure this has been covered, but I cant find any threads on it. Basically, I was just wondering how much work / modification is required to throw a 5sfe into an ST, simply because of my circumstances if I find a decent ST shell then that will be my only option... Are there major differences between the ST and GT that make this complicated?

5s-fe runs 9.5:1 compression, 3rd gen 3s-gte runs 8.5, swapping the pistons will get u 8.8
higher compression = less boost for equal power, but slightly more dangerous. but for a swap drop and drive, yea 300hp is less work on the 3s-gte engine was designed that way to begin with. 5s would require a few engine mods.
