I'm going to replace the alternator in a few mins. Is there any "trick" to do this like going in from the bottom or is it straight forward as the Haynes book says? Thanks for any input!!

Thanks to all who added the tips!! I endeup using 2 thin pics ( great neck brand) and did the same thing. It worked fine!! Thanks again!! This family ROCKS!!
