I've been searching for a 22re 4x4 in my price range with no luck. I did however stumble upon a V6 4x4 for a mere 2500. The owner is a friend of a friend so I don't expect anything shady.

The head gasket was replaced post 100k and it currently has 180k. There's some slight corrosion on the front underneath, it's been to the beach dunes a couple times. I smelled oil burning after test-driving, and it wasn't coming from the tailpipe.

The body is in very good shape, no rust and little tiny dents. The truck ran excellent and the clutch is brand new and felt great. The tires are brand new 33 bfg's. The interior is in very good shape as well.

I plan on getting a compression test done soon, if it passes should I pull the trigger? Don't know much about the 3.slow except it's headgasket problem.

Sound like it is in better shape than my 87 with 22r carb and
there is no way I would sell it for 2500, so my answer is definatly yes.

These are great trucks, the 4cyl in mine is very underpowered on the highway
with 32" bfgs. Off road they are hard to beat, 4low is about perfect
in almost every situation you will encounter. I have beat the hell out of mine
over the years and it hasn't failed me yet. I have pulled out more than a few full sized
trucks with larger tires than I have.
